Anna Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington. She began her acting career as Flora McGrath, the romantic drama film Piano. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath. For this part, she was awarded an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of 11. She is the second youngest recipient in Oscar the history of Oscars. Paquin made her debut as a child with a character in the Jane Eyre main character in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre, and then a major part on the film Fly Away Home. Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the queen of Spain in a lesser role. She played teenage girls in of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and portrayed the Polexia Aphrodisa girl on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
