Paquin made her debut as a child with a character in the Jane Eyre main character in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre, and then a major part on the film Fly Away Home. Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the queen of Spain in a lesser role. She played teenage girls in of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and portrayed the Polexia Aphrodisa girl on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
